Directions to the Youth Challenge Academy

The Youth Challenge Academy is located on the grounds of the Georgia Army National Guard Training Center in Fort Stewart, Georgia. Ft. Stewart is located about 41 miles southwest of Savannah and is readily accessible by way of the major east coast thoroughfares: U.S. 17, Interstate 16 and Interstate 95. The Stewart garrison area (main post) is in the middle southern portion of the reservation, adjacent to Hinesville.

The heavily wooded reservation is bisected in several wooded places by paved roads, including Georgia Highway 119, running north and south from Pembroke to Hinesville and Georgia Highway 144, running east and west from Richmond Hill to Glennville.

From the North

Travel south on I-95 to exit #90 (Ft. Stewart / Richmond Hill).

From the South

Travel north on I-95 to exit #90 (Ft. Stewart / Richmond Hill).

From Exit #90

Follow HWY 144 west through the reservation for about 22 miles. Passing the firing ranges on your right, look for a large, two-story, white building (Range Control) on the left. Just before this building, there will be signs indicating how to get to the Hospital. Turn left on Harmon Avenue and follow signs to the Hospital. Continue south around curve at housing and follow until you get to the intersection at HWY 84. Turn right onto HWY 84 and turn right at the 4th traffic light by Checkers and the gas station (General Screven Way/ HWY 119). Follow General Screven Way to the checkpoint station. KEEP TO YOUR FAR RIGHT AND PREPARE TO STOP IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A TEMPORARY DAY PASS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE!!! After proceeding through the gate, turn right at the red light on Bultman Avenue (WATCH FOR YOUTH CHALLENGE SIGNS). Continue east on Bultman Avenue to dead end at 16th Street. Turn left onto 16th Street and follow to intersection at Harmon Avenue. Continue through intersection on 16th Street . Follow 16th Street past the open field and Niles Avenue. Just past the trailers on your left will be a basketball court; turn left into the parking area. Report to BLDG 13515 to sign out your cadet.

Follow HWY 67 south for approximately 10 miles to Pembroke. At the railroad, traffic light intersection, continue across on HWY 119 for approximately 22 miles to the 4-way intersection of HWY 119 and HWY 144. Turn left onto HWY 144 and travel east for about 2-1/2 miles. As you begin to see signs directing you to the hospital, turn right onto Harmon Avenue, just past the large, two-story, white building (Range Control) on your right. Continue south on Harmon Avenue for about 1-1/2 miles, past the mobile home park and to the checkpoint station. Turn right onto 16th Street, which is the first street on the right after passing through the checkpoint station. Follow 16th Street past the open field and Niles Avenue. Past the trailers on your left will be a basketball court; turn left into the parking area. Report to BLDG 13515 to sign out your cadet.
